The award-winning feature film „GEGEN DIE WAND (HEAD ON)" by the Hamburg-based filmmaker Fatih Akin led to the project of a documentry film portraying the diverse and vibrant music scene of Istanbul: CROSSING THE BRIDGE – The Sound of Istanbul. The photographs in this volume werde taken during the shooting on the film and consequently reveal facets of a city that has fascinated the director from his early childhood days: Istanbul. MUSIC CDs: The musical backdrop to these impressions is provided by a selection of tracks from Fatih Akin’s personal collection, including original and previously unreleased out-takes from this film.
